Overview

SharePoint Branch Copy (SBC) is an application that provides administrators with a simple to use interface for copying a folder (branch) from one Sharepoint Portal Server (SPS) to another.

Requirements

• Operating System: Microsoft Windows NT4 SP6a, 2000, XP, and .NET Server.
• Microsoft .NET Framework V1.1.
• PKMCDO: This is installed as part of Office or Client Components for Sharepoint Portal Server.
• SharePoint Portal Server Version 1

Limitations

• Currently the document is recreated on the destination server from information on the source server. This means that the original checkin/checkout times cannot be replicated, and the user performing the checkin/checkout is the user specified in the SBC application rather than the original person. However, the actual document versions are copied across along with the various properties on the document including the Author, etc.
• As the checkin/checkout is generally being performed using an Administrator account, all documents copied across are left in a checkin state; if left checked out to the administrator, then other users would not be able to gain access.
