Overview

Sonia is an innovative Web-based and Windows Application software program that enables resources (persons) to be allocated according to user preferences depending on resource availability. By automating this process, Sonia greatly reduces the time and expense required to achieve the best use of resources.

Who Is Sonia for?

Sonia was orginally developed to help allocate students to field placement venues. Sonia's flexibility is also ideal for managing timetabling or course allocations, or any selection process where resource users are required to make selections from resource options.

Benefits

Easier tracking and systematic matching of resource-users' preferences to available resource options (e.g. placement venues). Sonia's password protected Web interface enables you to provide convenient and secure off-site access for your resource-users to enter their preferences and print data summaries.

No need for expensive staff re-training or systems reconfiguration due to Planet Software's cutomisation services and Sonia's ability to integrate with other information systems. Ability to provide prompt notification of selection process outcomes to resource- users, and details to resource-suppliers, through Sonia's mailing label and merge form letter features.

Sonia's report generation capabilities enables universities’ to easily archive, retrieve, analyse, and have up-to-date data in a number of formats, including PDF and Excel.

Requirements

Server

The Sonia backend applications (Service Host, Online and Sonia Reports) require a server operating system running ASP .NET 3.5 SP1 on IIS. According to the Microsoft site the following are suitable: Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2.

Client

The Sonia client application requires one of the following Microsoft Windows operating systems: Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7. NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is also required.

Web Browser

Tried and tested with current versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and Chrome.
